Key fobs S70 1998

I have 2 '98 S70's and all of the key fobs cases are cracked or broken. The electronics work fine, just the cases are broken. On one, the loop is broken so you can't attach it to your key ring. Is there any way to replace just the case?

    Key fobs S70 1998

I just bought two remotes on-line using PayPal at this site. Postage is $6.00 for one & $8.50 for two fobs. The fobs I purchased were $14.99 apiece & no tax :) It comes with a 60 day warranty and the company is traded on the stock exchange & has been around for several years (even has an 800 customer service number).

    Good luck!

I'm hoping we got the fobs as promised in the mail.

The fob cases are a fragile plastic and crack / break easily. Both of mine were cracked, so I bought a couple off ebay for about $25 each. The price varies, but most of the time, you'll see it around 20-something. These are not new, just recycled. I've not seen any provider of just the plastic cases, so the guts and seals come with them.

Key fobs - keep the spare innards S70 1998

If you buy one off eBay and swap your electronics, keep the spare. Then, when it finally fails, put in the original innards, go to the dealer and try, "Hey, this no good piece of dung just quit on me, what went wrong, I want you to program it, my wife needs it to go to the hospital...." Maybe they'll program it for free for you.

Please be our guinea pig. Buy on off ebay, with the correct model number on the back. Then take the good one apart very carefully after taking out the battery, i would think they are just pressure fitted together.
If the innards come out intact, swap the case with your broken one, and see if it works. If it does, create a new post and tell us what and how you did it. Then you can laugh when ever you pass a dealer!

Sure you can do it...so exactly as Klaus says.
This past summer I jumped in a swimming pool with my key fob in my pocket by accident. I figured it was ruined so I took it apart. Amazing, the innerds of the fob are protected with a rubber seal and nothing was wet inside. The thing worked perfectly afterwards after reassebly. I was also amazed at how simply everything was inside the case...it would be very easy to do a swap.
