My '98 V-70 AWD with 176,000 good miles, needs shocks and struts. It has rear self-leveling shocks. Best price replacements are $330 + installation. Does anyone know if I can substitute standard non-levelers? What issues do I face?

    It's too bad Nivomats are so expensive. The good thing is that they last a long time.
    Yes, you can substitute "normal" heavy duty springs and shocks, but you loose the self leveling. You will need to replace both the springs and the shocks, keeping in mind how much and how often you will be adding heavy loads in the back, roof, or trailer.
