Ignition Switch & Electrical Gremlins

Just curious: can a worn ignition switch in an 850 lead to other problems besides having to jiggle the key to unlock the shifter and activate headlights. I have an electrical short somewhere, and I'm trying to determine if fixing the ignition switch (the electrical portion) would help. Also, is it common for the wiring harness leading up to the MAF to go bad (or the connectors on it)? I get occasional stalls at low RPM, seemingly after I hit bumps or jar the car... Cheers. PM

Replace that ignition switch first and see if you still have any problems. I'm betting that the new switch electrics will fix many if not all of your issues.

    A good step-by-step is here:

Yes to both questions. Replace the ignition switch, and clean the connectors to the MAF with spray cleaner, tooth brush, and di-electric grease.
