climate control problem S70

My mom called the other day and said that the S70 is blowing cold air out of the two center vents and warm air out of the side vents. It seems to me like I read about this somewhere on brickboard a while ago. Does anyone have any ideas? I just wanted to see what could cause that before I go home to look at it during thanksgiving break week. BTW, the car is a 2000.

Thanks,
Dave

climate control problem S70

The simplest cause could be that she has accidently opened the fresh air intake that lets the center vents blow untreated fresh air while the rest of the system is blowing treated (heated, etc.) air. There is a wheel adjuster to the left of the center vent that does this - not the one that opens and closes the vent itself, there is a second wheel on the left side only. I forget which way it moves to let in fresh air, because they go in opposite directions between the 850 and x70 for some reason. This is also in the owners handbook, if she reads that.
