Hi - I successfully fitted a magnefine filter to the power steering return line, however for those who have done it, how do you fit one to the auto transmission line, preferably in the line from the bottom of the radiator?

There doesn't appear to be enough length in the hoses to fit one without kinking the hose.

I put mine in on the top line--there's more room and it's a much easier job. I doubt it makes any difference where the filter is...

I agree with two items in this thread. Upper transmission hose is easier and power steering return line needs one too. Three tips: Be careful of flow direction. Also I've added hose to avoid kinks. Use 3/8 inch size filter. Tranny cooler hose is readily available and it can be spliced on using brass barb fitting and hose clamps. I've opened old filters (30k-50k mi) and am amazed at the of the amount of metal powder on the magnet which would otherwise be in circulation in the tranny or power steering pump and rack.

I'm also very interested in installing this transmission filter.

I also seriously consider changing from Mobil SHC to Mobil synthetic ATF but find no experience about such change? Would it loosen some dirt into circulation to be filtered?
My 850s are 94 model with 200 and 240kkm behind.

Not sure about synthetic oil in the power steering or Automatic transmission. I only use Mobil 1 for the engine, and standard Dextron III fluid for the other 2.

After the first 20K miles, I flushed the tranny with Mobil 1 ATF--mileage went up by 2mpg which tells you a lot about friction reduction. Mobil 1 ATF is all I use in my tranny and I also replaced my power steering fluid with Mobil 1 ATF--highly recommended!
