Hello Bricksters! I just purchased a one owner '02 XC w/52k, unfortunately from a dealer with no service history. The carfax mentioned no recall service is necessary at this time, but... Just driving last night I noticed the gas pedal feels like a foot massager, increasing/decreasing with the speed of the vehicle. Does this sound like the tranny control module, or something more suspension related? I searched for this symptom on brickboard before posting, so I would appreciate any advice. I miss our beloved '96 850 GLT already, but I hope we will enjoy this vehicle for many years, (with the help of brickboard of course).

    I don't understand your explanation of a problem. The gas peddle is not connected to the engine bay, it's throttle-by-wireless. Either the electronic throttle module is controlling the gas peddle, or who knows.
    Is the peddle pressure different when changing gears? Or it happens all of the time?

      Klaus,

      It is hard to explain (and maybe I'm just not use to the vehicle yet). When depressing the pedal and resting the foot on it while driving, it feels like there is some sort of cable spinning and rubbing, causing the pedal to pulse. My tech had never heard of this since it's just a potentiometer, but nonetheless he's willing to test drive to futher diagnose. I'm more inclined to think it's just my nervousness about buying this car w/52k miles and no warranty left... Thanks.

        It could be just a simple software upgrade to the ETM.
