850 -94 240 kkm: momentary blinking warning lights 850 1994

Hi, this autumn a new feature is becoming more common:
after cold start and having droven for about 5 minutes when approaching red lights and pressing gently the brakes - no foot on gas pedal - I see several times a week the warning ligths blinking randomly for a second or so. The car runs fine, no change in rpm or sound, just the bliking lights.
Any idea why this is now coming more often? or why? or what to do to remove?

Tapsa

Hi and thanks Gwen,

you knew it! I swapped the voltage regulator and thus also got new brushes and have not seen the warning lights blinking once there after. The old brushes were worn out (242 kkm) and as one can swap the regulator leaving the generator in its place it took less than 30 minutes.

Thanks
Tapsa

All of the dash lights or just the bulb out warning? If it is just the bulbout warning, then the contacts in the brake lights need to be cleaned.

Hi,
unfortunately it is the most of them. not only the bulbout but most of them and I have the feeling it's not synchronous blinking either.

Tapsa:

The only time I have ever seen my lights on the dash just kinda come on the dash like that and just sorta go out again was when my voltage regulator was going bad. Take it to AutoZone and have them check the alternator. If it is the regulator, it can be replaced by taking the black cap off the alternator and plugging in a new one.
