Changing Power Steering Fluid - what type? 850 1996

I have a 1996 Volvo 850. The Power Steering fluid looks like it should be changed, which I plan to do with a turkey baster once per week for the next month or so. Question is, what type of fluid should I use. My manual just says "ATF" - but does anyone have any more specific recommendations???

Thanks so much, and Merry Christmas!

I'm using synthetic ATF (Mobil 1) and it works really well. But you could use any Dexron type ATF ( III or lV) or whatever you are using in the Auto Trans.

I'd second the Mobil 1 ATF

all of the above are good..but the best solution is flush the system regularly to keep everything working smooth!

As well as changing the fluid using Dextron III, I have fitted a magnefine filter to the inlet line to the reservoir, as any seal damage due to particles of metal in the fluid is a major problem requiring replacing the steering rack.
Others have suspended a magnet in the reservoir to catch particles of magnetic material such as steel that might be in the fluid. The magnefine filter has a magnet as well as a filter. The makers recommend it be changed out once a year.
