I received my ScanGauge yesterday (free priority shipping from the company) and tried it out this morning on my 1998 S70 which was showing the lambda light.
I'm very pleased with it, and with the company's free priority shipping!
The ScanGauge came ready to use: just plug the cable into scanner, turn on car, plug scanner into OBD II port. Press "scan" and out came the P0116 code (coolant temp sensor?) It allows you to look at freeze data and clear codes - I cleared the codes and forgot to check if there was data stored - oh well.
It also has a great tripmeter/gauge set which does work with the '98 S70 - this is excellent because my car only has km/h on the dash and this will read mph (can also select kmh), as well as mileage, rpm and the engine water temp. THere is an entire menu of other accessible gauges such as MAP, engine loading, ignition timing, and a host of other stuff. It comes with mounting velcro adhesive to mount to the dash or console. I'm not sure if I wll do this, since the OBD socket is in the armrest and it's not convenient or attractive to have the cable coming out of there - and I can't fully close the armrest console with the cable in place.
Flash memory means the info is stored even when car is turned off, though I have not read the manual to see if disconnecting the scanner re-sets the trip data.
Tha manual is concise and easy to read, but you only need it to figure out what gauge abbreviations are etc - it is extremely easy to use.
The only thing it does not do for the '98 S70 is re-set the engine service (oil change) light. I didn't expect it to, and I already have a piece of black tape over that light :)
So far my lamba light has not come back on and the computer is still completing test cycles, so I will wait and see if the code was a freak incident. Sounds like, from other posts on the brickboard, that if it is real the culprit is probably the coolant temp sensor connector being loose.
So, thumbs up for the ScanGauge - very neat tool and fun gadget!
