Continuing fuel problem 850 1996

I have three things going on right now that are bothersome. Occasionally I will smell raw gas, rough idle and hesitation from a stop, and lastly when I put fuel in the car the initial start up is similar to a flooded carb. I have to apply throttle to get it to start and then it sputters. All other starts are normal for the car. Does this all sound related to a failing fuel pressure regulator? Do I have a bad fpr plus something else going on. No CEL. Thanks in advance for your comments.

steve.

When the FPR went out on my 850, it only affected cold start -- long cranks every morning, black puff of smoke out the exhaust, and a shakey idle. Once warm, no other problems.
Yours soulds like the charcoal cannister is full of raw gas. Next time you tank up, make sure you take the nozzle out after it clicks off, or only put in X gallons. The only way to purge the cannister is to run the car for several hours. ROAD TRIP!! Go somewhere nice for lunch.

I should add that it is a turbo.

have a look at your fuel injectors or rail when the engine is running.

Leave it running for a bit and see if you can re enact the same situation while your are at a stop light while driving.

If one of the "o" rings or seals are bad ..then your going to smell gas.

Also double check the return lines and vacuumn lines from the regulator.
