Message Center Question V70-XC70 2004

I have a message in the message window I don't understand,
"Bulb Failure Position Light".
Can anyone help me out on what this is referring to?

Thanks

    Hi,

This message means one of your "running lights" on the front or rear of the car is burned out. Check the bulbs on the rear left and right, they are easy to access from the inside of the car, once you remove the carpeted panels at the corners (there are a few on each side), one is probably burned out. The front running lights are harder to access, from the engine compartment, that's why I suggest starting with checking the rear lights.

    Hope this helps.

    Position lights are parking lights.
Remember, the bulbs come 2 in a pack at automotive stores, and I suggest you replace the "good" bulb on the other side of the car from the burned out one.

Note Klaus's advice to replace the bulbs in pairs. Not always necessary, but you might still get a message if you don't. That's because the electrical system detects current differences, and is often sensitive enough to tell the difference between an old bulb and a new one, even if the old one is still working.
