C70 & ETM C70

I have recently purchased a 2001 C70 with 51,500 miles. I just read a posting on a possible ETM problem. What exactly is this problem and is there any preventive maintanance I can do to avoid it? $1200 is a lot of cash!
Thank you.

RELAX! The ETM is covered for 10 years or 200K miles. It must be fixed by the dealer. First the dealer will down load software to make the throttle work better, then the factory will replace it if it totally breaks.
The ETM is your electronic throttle module. Throttle by radio, not cable. If the ETM goes, you stop. All the engine will do is idle and all of the wrenching you could do will not fix it.
