Front Bearing Hub ... How to check? S70 1998

I am replacing a halfshaft, which is now removed, and ...

The bearing hub is now isolated on the knuckle (BTW, none of the tell-tale signs while driving or turning, of a bad bearing). The hub turns by hand with a fair amount of drag. There is none of the roughness normally associated with a bad bearing. But one thing (of concern?): there is a rubbing feel/sound, while turning by hand. The best way I can describe it is, the feel/sound of metal rubbing on an ultra-fine emery cloth. Is this normal?

Thanks for any assistance.

There is a metal shield behind the rotor. Make sure that it is not rubbing the rotor. If it is, take a large screwdriver and bend it back a bit.

Thanks for reply. What I have described, though, is with the rotor and rotor shield off. It is definitely in the bearing / hub area. The light rubbing sound just seemed a little unusual. Seems to drive ok, so maybe it's no big deal.
