Reverse lights not functioning 850

The reverse lights on my 850 Tdi are not functioning. Without having done any testing I would put money on a faulty gear lever sensor, they used to work if you pulled the (manual) gear shift down slightly when reversing but now they are fully out. My question... where is this sensor .... any tips on testing / changing would be great. A virtual cyber beer for anyone who can help!!!

    Reverse lights not functioning 850

Most of us in the USA have automatics, so I have to rely on the umbiquitious Haynes manual. There is a backup light switch, located between the two selector levers on the upper face of the transaxle.
Just unplug, unscrew, and replace. Most likely culprit.
I will drink beer whether this fixes your problem or not :)
