I've got driver front turn signal bulb burned out and tried to replace it but got some issues with taking the bulb holder out. It's kinda cramped around it so I want to make sure that I'm doing it right before I break all these brittle plastic pieces. So, after disconnecting the socket - which way do I turn the bulb holder to release ? I'm trying counterclockwise but it doesn't obey...

I can't tell you for sure, but on the 850 there is a wire ring visible behind the light. If you peek around the light, you can see a spring attached to the ring and a wire and a slot that the wire fits into.

You pull on the ring and move it a bit to clear the slot. Then the entire assembly comes out and you can change the bulb.

If that does not help. pose your question on volvospeed, I'm sure one of those guys have your answer.

It's slightly different in 2001+, but I finally got it out allright, thanks to "Rule 308"...

Don't tell me that you've NEVER changed the front turn bulb ! ;-)

What's wrong, can't get your big ham hands in there? It is a bit of a bitch for sure, I was just doing one yesterday, all the while cussing and swearing at the Swede SOB that designed that crap. Yes, it is just as you are trying to do, lefty loosey and righty tighty. It will turn about 90 degress and then you can pull it out and change the bulb. The one I was working on yesterday was actually a faulty socket so make sure that your socket is not screwy while you have it out. When you go for the re-install put just a little bit of grease on the rubber seal so that it will twist back in nice and easy and you won't have to fight it.
