Throttle body and Idle Control Valve on 2000 V70 XC V70-XC70

I read a post in the archives about cleaning the throttle body and idle control valve as well as checking for vacuum leaks to help reduce engine vibration at idle.

My engine runs rougher than I remember when it was new. I wonder where are the throttle body and the idle control valve under the hood and how do I clean them?

Also, is there some test I can perform to help me know if my engine has a vacuum leak or not?

Thanks,

RGW

Your 2000 model has the electronic throttle module, which is bolted to the underside of the intake manifold about in the middle. Look for a large plastic tube coming from the intercooler to the manifold. This tube is conected to the throttle body. Cars wiith electronic throttle bodys do not have an idle air valve. The function of that component is incorporated into the throttle module. Has your car had the throttle body recall? Most 99-01 or 02 volvos qualify for extended warranty coverage forr the throttle body and a software upgrade.
