Hello All,

I have some clunks and creaks in the front end of my newly aquired 855 turbo. I am thinking upper strut mounts. If so how can I inspect them for failure? Where are some other places I should look?

Also when I step on the brakes there is a clink at the initial movement of the pedal??? Ideas??

I had the same problems, and yes it was the upper strut mounts and a leaky strut. A good way to look for this is to open the hood with the car off and then push the car up and down in the front..you should see the struts popping up kind of high hear the same noise. Other suspects could be the brushings and boots..get under and move the brushing with your hand..there should be no play.

Do you get the noise only over bumps? Or all the time?

I had the brake noise too. It went away with new brakes. It was shaky calipers.

Tried your suggestion. The tops of the strut mount definatly moves up when the front of the car goes down. Another question: Does the round "washer" with three feet on it, usually touch the metal surface below it? There is a good 1/2" gap on my car.
