98 v70 radiator cooling fan V70-XC70

Hello,
My radiator cooling fan motor has begun to get noisy (bearings must be running dry). Has anyone found a fairly reasonable cost alternative to the dealer price on this item??? If so, how was the quality, fit etc?

a trip to your volvo wrecking yard for used fan and it will fit without altering any of your s70 to make it fit

I tried that, but my local junkyards are fresh out of any volvo even close to my year model. The only ones they had were like 1988 240's.

I purchased a new fan from Oreilly Auto Parts for my 99 S70. Here is the link:

The fan fits pretty well. I had to mount the new fan motor and blades in the original shroud so it would still bolt up correctly, but it wasn't very difficult at all. I used the plastic straps that came with the new fan and threaded them through the bolt holes since they did not line up correctly. It's really solid, as these straps are made to hold the entire fan and shroud to your radiator, so holding the motor in place is no problem. I did this to keep from having to drill new holes in my old shroud. And you will also have to cut the plug off of your old fan and wire it in to the new fan. The fans come with a limited lifetime warranty, so keep the new shroud and everything that is supposed to be installed with it in case you need to return it later. I had a bad fan the first time around and had to put everything back as it was when it was new in order for them to replace it. If they know you modified anything, the warranty is no good. Here's a pic of mine:
