Tailgate open msg when closed V70-XC70 2001

Buying a 2001XC that has this message "tailgate open" when it is closed. The previous owner said the dealer told them it is due to the rear hatch glass was replaced with a non Volvo OEM part. How does this relate to the message?? Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the hatch they could send scan for me?

    The glass has nothing to do with the error message. That comes from the microswitch in the lock assembly. The best way to check that out is to open the hatch and using a screwdriver, force the lock into the completely locked position. If the lock message then goes away, it might be a simple matter of moving the catch on top of the bumper forward 1/8inch. Otherwise, if all of the other electricals in the door work, and new/expensive latch is needed.
