98 XC Does it have the same AC Evaporator troubles as the 850? V70-XC70 1998

Co worker has a 1998 XC and the AC is not cooling. Before I tell him he is in for a Swedish version of BOHICA, I thought I should check with the bofins on the BB and ask the question...

Does the 98 XC share the same POS AC Evaportator as the 850 series and what are the chances that his has bit the bullet?

    BOHICA. Your friend is out of luck and better buy some R134a on sale. That is the only way to put off spending $1200-1500 to get his AC fixed.
    If it were only in an easily replacable location...
