My Wifes S80 which I stay away from because I'm a 740 GLE, 760 T, and 780 T person, has a hissing sound coming from under driver's side kick panel. What's the simple problem and whats the expensive part that I need to order?

    If you own a Volvo for safety, you should take brake problems to your dealer.

    Your wife is worth it!

    After diagnosis, then decide if the dealer, a good indie, or the DIY guy that lives at your house should do the needed repair.

    I had my brake booster replaced under the extended warranty for around $800. Good luck!

      I see leaky brake boosters from time to time in my shop, they are not too bad to do but they are not for the weak of heart either. Their is a fair amount of bending and prying of stuff to get out of the way to pull that fat booster out from where it is mounted. Change that sucker out or have someone do it for you.

        Thanks for the advice I've gotten so far. Yes, I'm going to get it diagnosed by the dealership but if it is the booster, which I'm sure it is, I'm going to do it myself. I can't afford an 800.00 bill. I would like to think of myself as a better than average shade tree mechanic and was proad yesterday when I heard the lovely sound of a 940 GLE 16 valve engine that I rebuilt from the bottom up start up on first try after getting back in the car. Again thank you for everybodys help and advice. There is no group for people when it comes to helping another brother in need than all of you.
