IPD Going Chinese

All,

I don't know if this is the right place to post and I don't want to severly bash IPD but I have been a long time customer of IPD. They have always had a good assortment of aftermarket parts from Mann and other German Mfgs. However, my last batch from IPD included filters, some brake pads etc. All of it made in CHINA. This really irks me on two fronts.

1. The prices have not gone down and they are selling them as top quality aftermarket which they are definitely not.

2. More importantly, the quality of the air and cabin filters was abysmal, so bad that I wouldn't install the air filter. The fit was extremely sloppy, nothing like the original.

So, if I offended anyone sorry, but I though the folks should know if you are ordering parts from IPD, theres a good chance it will be Chinese and not up to our specs.

John

IPD Going Chinese

The entire world is a factory now. Nothing is made in the USA, very little is made in the 13 European states. All of the manufacturers are building/outsourcing their parts. They cannot afford to pay their local workers wages needed to survive in their own country, and continue to stay in business.
If you buy Mann filters from FCP, they are probably made in South America. The trick is quality control. Some companies insist on top quality, others go for the cheap cost. YOU have to figure out what you want.
If people get all of your car care stuff at Costco or Wally world because it is cheaper, they have just added to the problem.

Return it

If you thought you were buying Volvo/Mann filters and got that. It is not the product you ordered plain and simple.

I bought some Boge struts for my 240 about two years ago that turned out to be Made in Mexico. I should have returned them. They're clunking now.

Good to know john. Thanks for the heads up. I stopped buying from IPD years ago because of their high prices and most items I needed were available here on the East Coast for less and good quality.
