Swapping Leather Seat Covers S40-V40

My 2003 V40 driver's seat is showing wear on the left side. Are the leather seat covers removeable and can the driver's and passenger's seats have their copvers exchanged. I don't want to completely wear out the driver's seat and would prefer to have equal wear on both front seats. The passenger seats gets maybe 1% useage compared to the driver's seat. How difficult is the job of swapping them? Require any special tools or knowledge?

The seat backs cannot be swapped from right to left because of the lumbar adjustment knob.
Not sure about 40s, but the bottoms should be swappable. There are numerous hog clips, metal ring clips, that need to be cut off. During reassembly, using zip ties works best.
Watch out for the heated seat panels and the small piece of foam between them and the leather.

They have the same (R&L backs) PN, (on a '98 with velour seats, anyway) but come without the hole cut for the lumbar support knob. The installer than has to cut the hole on the correct side.

I suppose an upholstery shop could graft a patch over the hole.

Anything that has been put on can be taken off, perhaps not easily. If they are truly interchangeagle they will have the same part number, more likely that they aren't and don't, but a dealer part person can tell you for sure.
