Vacuum and fuel line clamp suggestion 850 1995

I am about to reinstall my evap purge valve, and although it was carefully removed, I'm not sure I will be able to reuse the factory-look clamp I removed from it.

The clamp is about 3/8" in diameter, and you Volvo folks will know it has the little tab that was bent over, and the two indents adjacent that act to clamp it on.

As Klaus has pointed out I may need a new fuel pressure regulator, I looked in that area and I see the same clamp.

So, my question is, if I don't discover how to reinstall these, would a stainless band clamp work in these locations? It seems like a clamp is a clamp, and this isn't the space shuttle. Just thought I'd ask.

Thank you in advance for any advice. Don '95 854T 182K

Clamp reused 850 1995

I did figure out how to reuse the clamp. I had carefully remoived it, and it took a few seconds of study to see I had to uncrimp the rectangular part that sticks out on one side. Once I did this, it made the band longer and allowed the tabs to be engaged. Looking in my toolbox, I found a tool I have never used. I would call them nippers, but I am not sure what they are actually for. They have sharp 1/2" wide jaws that are parallel to each other, and go towards each other as you close them. They don't close all the way.

These recreated the original crimp nicely. I think if I do the fuel regualtor, I will have some replacement clamps handy since this is a more critical area.

You should be able to use a fuel line clamp. Those clamps you get at home depot will dig into the line while tightening. Auto parts places sell them in packages of 6 or 8.

Excellent advice Klaus. I probably would not have thought about the issue you raise. Thanks, Don
