rule308, klaus or other pro`s. Tire waffle and tire sound, what are your S80

thoughts on the cause. Doing the 1/4 panel push down the shocks/struts feel good. I have 123,000 on the car. One more question. I have done a few strut changes before but never on a FWD car are there any surprises? This is asuming it is the strut.

TIA,
Lane

Check your ball joints and tie rod ends.

If the tire is waffle ing and getting chewed up, then I would suspect an alignment problem. Unless you live on a washboard dirt road, these struts do last a long time.
You also might want to investigate tie rod ends and ball joints to be the cause of tirewear.

Hi Klaus, Thanks for your quick reply. I will check the tie rod ends and ball joints. The tire is not real bad but you can hear it. Alinement seems very good, even wear and car tracks straight. I have a bmw 850I and I have heard when tires wear funny the shocks are bad, but that car is so tight you can hardly push down on it. I might change out the shocks and give it a try. Other than the noise I love the ride.

      Thanks,
      Lane
