rear shocks V70-XC70

Bought a '98 V70XC. It has self leveling rear shocks that are shot. Can these be replaced with non-leveling units?

You can replace by retrofitting new springs, shocks and a lot of monkeying around. In the end it will probably ride like a truck and cost near the same as Nivo's. There is no cheap replacement option - believe me I looked. I bit the bullet and bought a pair last year from one of the sponsors of this board who gave a substantial discount. The car sits at the right level whether it's empty or full of gear and pulling our camper.

Yes, but you also have to replace the springs. Remember, new springs in the rear will not self level, so that night time driving will have oncoming motorists getting mad when you carry a load.

Please answer your responses. We need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)
