99 v70 T5 V70-XC70 1999

found a 99 v70t5 with about 104xxx. one owner vehicle at a non-volvo dealership.asking price is 6000.00 now this car is the first year of ford ownership of volvo so i think this car has the electronic throttle and not the drive by wire throttle, if that makes sense.

are these models year worth my time?

i would prefer the 98v70 t5 but im open.

thanks

Nothing to do with Ford except stock certificates, the 99 is drive by wire (wireless throttle and ETM). The ETM is factory covered for 200K miles or 10 years, but the 10 years is almost over.
The specs say that the Tbelt and tensioner need to be replaced at 105K.
If it was a manual, I would say buy it. The auto has had programming problems, but could be OK.

Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)

1999 may have been the first year of Ford ownership. However, Ford had zero, zip, nada to do with any of the design, building or engineering of the car.

The usual caveats about "it's nine years old!", "it could be a dream or it could be a nightmare" and "get it checked out by a shop that knows Volvos" apply.
