V70 AWD 2005 - onwards, how is it to drive V70-XC70 2005

Hi all AWD drivers,

I've so good experince of my two 850s -94 but shoulod gradually start looking for replacement by few years old V70 models.
In scandinavia we have a looong winter and lots of snow and bad weather.
Thus I consider AWD, but read a lot of first generation AWD being a risk.

Since when Volvo started the new generation and what kind of driver experiences we have. Do you have links where to go for additional information.

Thanks
Tapsa

The AWD models begining in 2002 have the new and improved version of the drivetrain. Except for the center exhaust pipe brace which should be removed, it is very reliable. The brace can be hit when bottoming out and is then pushed onto the driveshaft, causing an imbalance condition requiring the shaft to be replaced.
If you do not get the diesel engine, the light pressure turbo is quite fast enough. If you have children, make sure you get heated seats for the rear seats :)

The 04 - 05 models are very good, so long as you can get service history - of course.

Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)

V70 AWD 2005 - onwards, how is it to drive V70-XC70 2005

Hi,
my dream is the D5 engine but it's availabele in late 2005 models onwards only so realisticly might need to be satisfied with the 2.4D of 2004 as well.

But the real issue is that Volvo is providing AWD only with XC70 from 2008 models onwards? and thus the prices of these AWD vagons get sky high.

Therefore I'm looking now for (2004/) 2005 D5 AWDs as they come into second ownership round being two to three years old ones (typical european leasing period).

Thanks for your valuable opinon.
Br Tapsa
