ABS module V70-XC70

IS it an easy project to replace the ABS module on your own, or should I levae it to the shop?

    Easy...Problem solved for me V70-XC70

    1. E5 socket. Get the set at harbor freight for $7:
    http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=95178

    2. Finally got a rebuilt ABS Module from:
    www.bba-reman.com

$99 + $20 shipping = $119 (they ship the reman unit, you send your old unit back)
    Warranty for life.

It is cheaper if you send your old unit 1st, they repair it, and send your very same unit back for $69 + $20 shipping. But you will be driving with speedometer etc.

Yes it is quite easy. I just replaced mine. I have a '01 V70 2.4T. My mechanic gave me the model number when they diagnose the problem. You can take yours off and send it to Victor Rocha for repair or you can order a remanufactured unit from a place in Tauton Mass. The question is whether you want to have your Volvo without ABS or not having to use it for a few days.
The hardest part was getting a E5 Torx socket to loosen the unit. I finally have to order one from the internet. Victor was out of stock at the time...No one around here has one in stock. Once you have the E5, just follow the instructions available from Victor Rocha.

Removal and reinstallation are easily a DIY.

Visit Victor Rocha's web page, and all questions will be answered ... with pictures.

It is an easy fix unless you have a turbo. Its only a few torx bolts.

The key that I had to replace mine was wrench that was not a ratchet, but the wrench that you can slide the socket across the handle. This allowed me put the socket in the center and have a kind of T handle. It is unfortunate that my ratchet did not have enough clearance. But by going to the cheap tool place in Plaistow, NH they had both the socket and the T wrench.

Oh by the way Vic Rocha's fix worked great.
