1999 s70 KEY SPINS IN IGNITION S70

I have the above car and sometimes when i go to turn the key it will just spin a volvo mechanic said he thought it was the switch on the back of the actual key tumbler and a parts guy from volvo said it was the tumbler itself has anybody had this problem thanks for any help peter

    They are both correct. I have seen both. Obviously, we all hope it is the electrical portion which an easy a cheap DIY fix.
    If it is the tumbler, then you need to order from the dealer - Sweeden - and spend $$$.
    If you take off the electrical portion, you can use a screwdriver to make sure it is/is not the problem.

    Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)
