Considering a new volvo to replace our 89 240. Are there any XC70 that come with manual transmission? What about the AWD V70? thanks...

If you live in the USA, forgetaboutit. I don't think you can even special order it.
As for the diesel engine? We can only wish.

The 1997 850 Cross Country is the only XC that I've seen with a manual transmission. It was a Canadian market model, with the first "light pressure" turbo. A friend has an 850 AWD with the same engine and transmission, but lower and without the "Cross Country" stickers.

The manual transmission was dropped for the 1998 model year when the car became the XC70, and was also introduced to the US market.

In the future, I would really like a new V0 with a D5 (diesel) and a 6-speed manual. Am I too hopeful?

an xc with diesel and manual transmission would be nice. Don't know why Volvo never really pushed the diesel market the way Volkswagen has with the TDIs.

In the US all xc's through model year 07 are autos. Not sure about the all new 08. The V70R is available with a manual/AWD

I wonder what they were thinking? If the xc is somehow meant for rugged use, wouldn't a manual transmission be a good idea?? I think if we move vehicles we'll look into the awd v70 manual trans.. Too bad, because I like the slightly higher clearance of the xc70.
