V70 Brake Piston Dust Seal

I have a 1998 V70s and while replacing the from discs and pads, I found the dust seal on one side one half of it had come out of its groove on the piston. I wasn't able to push it back. I left it hanging out when I reassembled the caliper. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

That is now letting dirt into your caliper. Before you squeezed the piston back in was the time to re-seat the seal and apply good quantities of break grease.
The groove that the seal is supposed to fit in was probably filled with brake dust/dirt.

Hi,
I noticed the same on front right side many years ago (2001?)on my 850 -94 but decided to leave it as is and repaire/replace both sides when due to keep balance. No need sofar with 215kkm.

Tapsa,
Calipers do not need to be matched/replaced in pairs. Just rotors and pads.
