'New' 850T--making progress (ABS, engine mounts) and a question on a clunk 850

Well, the new-to-me 850T is coming along--fixed the CV boot, "front" (right) engine mount, did an oil change, filters, etc., and replaced the pinhole-leaking oil return line. (BTW, the o-ring on the lower end of the replacement is REALLY important...)

Most importantly, Victor Rocha did the ABS controller repair--kept it less than a day, and you can't ask for better than that. So add my recommendation to the many on this board for his services.

Now, the new stuff: I managed to get a CEL after changing the fuel filter. It took a LOT of cranking to start afterward, and then sort of stumbled when starting. Common/normal? Guess I don't have to worry until another 100k!

The engine mount did not fix an occasional metallic clunk on the driver's side when hitting a bump. Per many posts, I've gone through the front suspension, and checked at least part of the rear. But it sounds forward of the rear end--almost under your feet. Ideas or specific things to check? Thanks!

'New' 850T--making progress (ABS, engine mounts) and a question on a clunk 850

Next time you change the fuel filter, I suggest putting the key in pos II and waiting until the fuel pump turns off before going to pos III. There is a lot of air in a new filter.

If you have a clumk coming from the driver's side, it could be the tranny mount. Or a loose sway bar link rod. Link is easy, just reach around the rear of the tire, grab it and shake. It should not move or rattle.

'New' 850T--clunk 850

I'm pretty sure it's not the sway bar--I had the left end link off to do the CV boot with no change. I also pushed and pulled it a lot, and pried between the bar and the frame with almost no movement. I think the rubber's still OK.

Where's the tranny mount? I've found the subframe bushings, front and rear engine mounts, the top and bottom torque mounts, and the right (aka "Front") engine mount. I did replace the latter one, and the engine passes the 'park & rock' test described in some of the posts. But I still worry I have another bad mount. I did find a rubber bumper on the subframe under the tranny, and the tranny is resting right on it. Normal, or should there be clearance? (This was a lot easier on the ol' 740 when you could just check if the fan was centered in the shroud!) There's no obvious leaks from the hydraulic mounts, but of course they can poop out anyway.
