Hi all,

I was just snooping around on the net (posted it in the gallery), and came across this picture of a white MkII V70 (2002?) which looked very good. Suddenly I knew why (well, besides the R-type rims), it had an eggcrate radiator grill with a chrome surrounding!!!!!!

I thought that wasn't possible?! I annoyed several different Volvo-dealers for this (since I had the same thing for my 960 R.I.P.), and they all said it didn't exist! I even found a site from The Netherlands, were one guy actually made a grill like this by adapting an R-type grill!

Which kind of V70 has this? I know an R-type V70 has it, the XC70 also has it, but they have a whole different front bumper... is it possible that one of these grills actually fits a normal V70 front bumper? Can anyone help me? This would really look awesome on my black brick!

    Sorry that I can't help you with your question, But I'd like to ask a question about the grille.

    My tech knowledge is limited to 240s (the grille comes out intuitively and easily), but my daughter owns one of the new FWD Volvos with a grille (like your V70) that I just can't figure out! I want to install a club grille badge on it that is retained by a bolt whose nut needs tightening from behind the grille, but I cannot figure out how to pull out the grille. There's also no way to get my hand or tools behind the grille while it's still in place, as the whole area is blocked by various air duct or other support or cover panels.

    Is there some way to release the grille so it can be pulled straight out?

    Any advice will be appreciated.

      Ken, you didn't say what year/model you are referring to, but with 850 and 70 series, you can just open the hood. The grill is part of the hood assembly and is perfectly accessible when open. If you need to take the grill out, after opening the hood, there are four slide clips (two up and two down) that hold the grill in place.

    I have a 2000 XC SE and it has what looks like the same type grill--eggcrate with chrome surrounding.
