How to Lube Drivers Door? 850

Hello-
My '95 850 drivers door is really starting to squeak. Is there a way to lubricate it other than slathering grease everywhere?

My aircraft mechanic uses LPS3 on just about every hinge or moving part. This is spray that evaporates and leaves a waxy grease. Lasts a long time. http://www.lpslabs.com/Products/CorrosionInh/Lps3.asp

I just use axle grease on the metal door strap, and 3in1 oil for the hinges.

Klaus-
Thanks for the tip. I used axle grease on the strap, but nothing on the hinges. When I shut the door now, it is somewhat easier, but I have some kind of spring going "twang" when the door shuts, and it sounds as if it is inside hte door itself. Any thoughts?

Bob

The door stop mechanism is going out--common problem. fcp has them at a reasonable price and there are good writeups available on how to do it. I let mine go too long and it darn near tore up the outer skin on the door.

Door Stop is $30 at dealer 850

Check the dealer, price the same as online I think.

Instructions are here:

You may be able to move the rubber dust cover to expose the large torx head screw that will be staring at you...this screw becomes loose and contributes to this noise. Take out the screw, apply some thread tite and torque it down. This may help or even fix the problem. Worked on mine. Good luck!

Make sure the area around the body strap where it connects to the body is ok. There are some spot welds that break and will cause the same popping and clicking as loose bolts. If that's the case you will need a body shop to repair it.
