Fuel Pump 850 1997

Anyone have instructions on changing the fuel pump on a 97 850 sedan?

I agree with Klaus - not a bad job except you're working in gasoline. The hardest part for me was removing the rear seat back strikers (make sure you have a good torx 30 bit if yours is a sedan). The Chilton's book has a great set of pictures in it. I chickened out and went with the Bosch pump because I didn't want to have wire splices sitting inside my tank. Just make sure before you start that you have verified that the problem isn't the relay (Red 103 behind the fuse box) although a lot of folks recommend changing it at the same time anyway.

Quite simple, really. The access plate is behind the rear seat. I use the handles on a pair of pliers to unscrew the plastic nut.
There are replacement pump motors, MUCH cheaper than the OEM pump.

    The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are a 95 854T and a 98 V70R :)
