Left and Right Power Seat Module (PSM) on 2001 V70XC - Question: can they be swapped? V70-XC70 2001

this is my first post so be easy with me :)

i have been told by a dealer that the driver's power seat module needs replacing on my paw-n-law's 2001 v0xc (roughly a $750 fix)

my question is:

can the passenger side power seat module be swapped to the driver's side?

i realize that the memory feature would not be there, of course, but i'm thinking that doing without the seat adjustment would be more palatable on the passenger side

just curious about the software ramifications, etc

is this even a legitmate solution?

thanks

:-)

The problem is that the buttons to move the seat won't line up after you try to move it to the other side. They are mirror images of each other.

My driver's seat doesn't like to move forward, but the memory function still works, meaning all of the seat motors are OK. When I removed the switch box to investigate, I found that taking it apart was not feasible. And it took me a while to figure out where all of those tiny springs are supposedd to go :)

You might want to investigate a junk yard, but the 2001 may require a software upgrade to get the serial number of the controller. Volvo really screwed up that for us DIYs.
