V70 2005 D5 AWD

Hi, I have now third Volvo on my fleet 2x850-94 and now new V70 2005 D5 AWD.

I'm just learning to know the car but would start understading the ODBII readers useful with it.
Which protocol is used by Volvo (OBD 2 / EODB / JODB) OBDII protocols:
-CAN, ISO, VPW, PWM, and KWP2000.
How to define ODBII DTCs and those specific to Volvo.
Should I look for a test device or PC sw based solution?
All opinions and user experiecies respected.

    Sorry, Tapsa. You won't get much support from the USA members with a diesel engine, just a lot of envy :)

    There are a couple of UK forums which have done work on scanners, some of the better ones are PC based. Normal scanners will only work with common engine problems - codes P0nnn. Codes P1nnn and P2nnn are Volvo specific and have no translation.
