burnt smell after exhaust manifold gasket replace 850 1997

Just replaced exhaust manifold gasket(elring)from fcp, upgrade the exhaust manifold from ipd, replace studs and bolts and torque to specs 18 ft lbs. followed from haynes. Could this torque be enough?
Started the car and while the engine is warming up, steam and burnt plastic smell started to come out from the exhaust manifold, thought its just the new exhaust manifold adjusting from the engine heat.
Could this be a failed new exhaust manifold gasket? (gasket is made of both metal/stainless looking w/ plastic/fiber in between)
Car is starting to hear like there's an exhaust leak just like before I replace the gasket.
Is the burning bad or gasket adjusting or melting? If normal, should I re-torque hoping that this would be the fix?
Thanks for all your input.

It's totally normal for it to smell and smoke for 10-15 minutes at least. Just make sure there's nothing on the manifold like a hose or a piece of plastic.

It's possible the new manifold had a layer of grease on it to stop it from rusting in storage. This would burn off with heat on the first start of the engine.
