Hard to start. HELP! S80

When it does start, it runs great! The problem is getting it to start. It will crank without trying to start but only fires up about one in 6 times. I pulled the OBD2 code P1550 but I am not sure if it is related to the starting issue. I have already changed the plugs. Does anyone have any ideas? I reset the code but it usually comes back up while I am cranking it.

Thanks,

Wesley

Thanks guys for your help. I took the car to the VA Beach Volvo dealer and after their shop foreman took a few days to check it out he found that there was electrical interference with the sensor on the top of the transmission bell housing. This was fixed by adding plastic wrap to the B+ cable that runs from the junction at the firewall to the starter. Now the car runs great! You can't beat those guys over at Phillips Volvo in VA Beach.

I doubt that the P1550 is related, that is a Volvo specific code and probably not related to engine performance.

You might have a dirty throttle body or sticky idle control valve.

Error code P1550 is defined as "stepped motor speed control"
Any know what this refers to?
Thanks

That sounds like idle control to me.
