Volvo battery date codes

I've acquired a 2001 S40 "pre-owned". It has a Volvo-branded battery installed. Looks to be in excellent shape, but looks can deceive. I want to determine the battery age but I see no date codes on the case. Should there be some codes and how does one decipher them?

thanks

Volvo battery date codes

Volvo batteries usually last about 5 years, so you probably have a good battery. Unlike American batteries, the Volvo ones do not come with a year/month sticker, there is no way to tell how old it is. Unless the dealer can read the bar code and the production date is part of it.
