Hi,
My wife's car suffered a cam belt failure a few days ago & was towed to the local main dealer, where it's been serviced for the last 5 years.
Cam belt changed at 50K service and now has 61K on the clock.
Dealer yet to fully inspect, but they suspect that belt failed due to "oil pump seizing!" Is this possible? Does oil pump run off cam belt? Anything else likely?
Dealer didn't know if there was possibility of interference damage of valves & pistons, etc., which seems a bit strange!
Can anyone advise, please, if there will likely be damage to valves/pistons/cylinder head & what the likely cost would be?
Thanks
