I think she's going to die this week S70

I have a '99 S70 with 120K miles on it. Just had the ABS done a few weeks ago...everything is working fine. Earlier last week the car started running rough, when you are at a stop sign and push on the gas the car shakes horribly and feels like it's not going to move. Yesterday it started doing it when I'm at highway speed and trying to pass. I check all the plugs and they are fine, run only premium gas and the wires are good. No leaks anywhere. The check engine light flashed a couple of times on Saturday but nothing since and no codes. This morning I could barely get it out of the garage and when I started driving down the road it sounded like a lawnmower that was running out of gas. Any ideas? Should I dump the car?

Thanks,
John

You may want to check the Air Mass Meter. The air mass meter is what measures the weight of the engine intake combustion air. On your car this sensor is attached to the air filter housing. Unplugging the AMM will force the Electronic Fuel Injection System to use a default value, injecting fuel at a steady amount. If your car starts after unplugging the connector, then your AMM may be faulty. I had a similar problem, and a new AMM fixed it. Very easy to do yourself, if you know how to read second grade books!

She now has a burning smell....almost electrical type smell.

It sounds like fuel starvation. If it is, the usual causes are fuel filter blocked, fuel relay faulty, FPR faulty or fuel pump going weak or all of the above. Get it fixed, it's cheaper than replacing the whole car.
