How do I identify my wheel size?

I have a 1998 V70 XC with a ding in one of the wheels. I need to buy a replacement, was looking on ebay, but I'm not sure which wheel I have. The tires are labeled 15", so I know that is the diameter, but I'm not sure if the width is 6" or 6.5" Any ideas on how I can confirm this so that I don't buy the wrong wheel? They are the six spoke alloy version. Thanks for any help.

All Volvo wheels are stamped inside: size (width x diameter) and offset in mm (e.g., 6.5x16x25).

Further, for the FWD models, they have a very distinctive variety of wheels, and each has an exclusive size, so if you match your car's wheel style (they have distinctive names) to a certain variety, you'll be assured of the correct size, too.

How do I identify my wheel size?

If you look at the wheel between the lug nuts you will see various numbers, letters, and logos cast into the metal.

One sequence will resemble - 6.5Jx15H2 (one of my '95 855 wheels)

The 6.5 is the rim width in inches,

As for the J and the H2 -

One is the bolt circle size, and the other is the offset, which is a measure of how far the mounting flange that contacts the brake rotor is from the center of the tire.

the 15 is the wheel diameter.

The offset is quite important and although you could use several wheels on your car, you should find a wheel that matches the measurement numbers of your other wheels exactly

An addition - I see a steel wheel in my collection marked 15Jx15x43

The J is the bolt circle size, and the 43 is the offset

How do I identify my wheel size? V70-XC70 1998

Thanks for the speedy response. I am still a little confused. I looked at the wheel between the spokes and read the following "VOLVO 915671 1625 7W917 MIN TH 8 MM." I had to move the car to read the text around the wheel inside of the spokes as it stretched a good way around. I suspect I'm looking in the wrong place, but I could not find anything stamped between the lug nuts. Do I have to remove the nuts? Thanks.

How do I identify my wheel size?

I believe they are 6.5" The measurement is from inside the bead to inside of the other bead, not the outside.

Buy 2, so you can get a real spare instead of the donut.

But look at your local junk yards, shipping is very expensive.

How do I identify my wheel size?

      Klaus,
Thanks for your answer and advice. I will buy two to get rid of the donut spare. Do I need to take the tire off of the wheel to measure between the outer and inner beads? I see in Volvo literature that the car could have either 6" or 6.5" wheels and don't want to buy the wrong thing. I read between the spokes of the damaged wheel and can see "VOLVO 9157671 1625 7W917 MIN TH 8 MM." Does this tell me anything? Is there a simple way to confirm the width?

The ebay link looks exactly like what I have, but he won't ship and it's too far for me to drive from Portland to Wisconsin.

      Thanks again for your help.

If you get the same pattern wheels that you have on your car, they will be the right width. They only made one width for those particular alloys.
        The turbo wheels are 6.5
