Disconnected vac hose - evap canister? 850 1997

I was under my car today and noticed that there were two ends of a vacuum (I assume) line running between the two fuel lines under the front passenger footwell that were disconnected. The strange thing was there was a gap between the two ends of the lines of a couple of inches - is there a valve or something else that is supposed to be located here? Is this the line that goes to the evap canister?

I just took a look under my car to see what you are talking about. There is a vacuum hose and it appears that mine has a 3 inch long connector in the general area you are talking about. Where the line goes, I don't know. It is too cold to lay down in my garage. I am still shivering!!

Thanks Klaus - when you say "connector", I assume you just mean a plain vanilla piece of tubing or something, and no one-way valve or anything? I can presumably just re-connect the hoses with a spare piece of vacuum hose.

If it were warmer, I would have looked to see where it goes. I could even be the washer line hose to the rear, if you have a wagon?
The connector between the lines looks like a short piece of fuel line, no clamps, just a tight fit.

That is a vapor line from the tank to the canister, and it is spliced from the factory with a piece of hose near the rear edge of the subframe. Just connect the 2 hoses and have a beer!

Thanks Klaus - I'll fix it with a spare piece of fuel line or something and hopefully that will take care of it. My rear washer was working last time I tried it so I don't think that's it. My guess is that it's the line to take the vapors from the gas tank to the charcoal canister at the front. I tried to follow the line, but it was dark and cold!
