ETS lamp V70-XC70 2000

In the recent months, when I would place my car in drive or reverse and when the car would down-shift when slowing, it would try to and sometimes stall. Today my electronic throttle system (ETS) lamp came on. Two questions, what's going on, and is it something I can fix?

I don't know how many miles are on your car, how long you have had it. Basically, your car has a poorly designed ETM module (there is a potentiometer that moves with accelerator movement, and it wears much faster than it should). They have a software patch that I believe is covered under either a recall and/or a 200,000 mi warranty (just for this part). That solves a lot of the problems people have; it "smooths" the signal from the pot. More severe problems result in ETM module replacement, which is covered by the warranty (not routinely replaced under the recall).

I hope this applies to you. If not, it is interesting reading.
