Driver Seat heater V70-XC70 2001

Hi,
I've been searching high and low for a thread on this, and can't seem to find one.

I'm just looking for some troubleshooting analysis (what wires to check for under the seat) for my 01 XC heated front seat. There are so many under there, I don't know where to start...

The closest i found was all the posts about the following which don't seem to apply to my 01 XC. I think the below instructions are for the 850's:

Look for the red and 'other color' wire going up in the seat, check to see if conected, if not, bring down the theromstat in that 2" hole, fix and replace.

Anyway, if someone has troubleshooting guide other than the above paragraph, please share.

Thanks,
Harry

    Driver Seat heater V70-XC70 2001

    Hi,
if you find a burnt fuse don't be happy, be carefull as usually there is areason for burnt fuse (shortcut?).
In older 850s of 94 the seat heating construction was not built to last. The metallic spring construction parts rub off the heating wire insulation in normal use and cause a shortcut or heating resistor wire break and cold you are, lucky if you don't get the seat cover burnt by shortcut.
Have two 850s with four cold front seats now while the oldie saab900/88 is still heating fine. Would hope volvo be able to learn something here.
There used also to be a bimetallic thermostat embedded to cut the current instead of over heating.

First check the fuses. If neither the seat or seatback get warm, pop the switches and swap with the passenger one, assuming the pass side gets heat.

Fuses are fine. (Passenger side works just fine). Once I figure out how to pop the switches...I'll try the swap...until then, thanks
