Retrofit ETM? S70

Has anyone ever figured out how to retrofit one of the newer Bosch ETM's onto a 1999-2001 vehicle to replace the problematic Italian one?

    I was thinking absent a complete engine design overhaul, there must be some continuity from one model year to the next such that at least mechanically the later fuel system with the Bosch ETM could be adapted to the previous engine that originally would have had the faulty Italian ETM. Perhaps the new control system/software would also be required. But given the magnitude of the issue has no one attempted this?

    The problem is downloading Volvo software after ETM R&R. The new units supplied by the dealer are much more reliable than the originals.

    The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are a 95 854T and a 98 V70R :)
