2004 V70 Radio issues V70-XC70

Has anyone experienced issues with the scan feature on the V70 radios. Since it is my wifes' car, I don't get behind the wheel too much, but she says the way it will scan for a station when she hits the pre-program buttons drives her nuts. We have asked the dealer about this when it has gone in for service and all they can tell us is it seems to be an inherant problem which seems to stem from the software that controls the system. No software upgrades are available to date so we are told we must live with it. The service manager has also told us that it seems to be one of the most common complaints they get from owners.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Allen

I have a 2004, V70. You do not state the specifics of what your wife dislikes about the scan (??). As I recall, I had to actually read the manual (radio has too many features and it is not intuitive). You mention, pre-programed stations...... once the stations are pre-programed, I control it from the steering wheel and it seems then to only go for the stations programed....

      Art,
It really has nothing to do with how you select the station, it's when you change the station, it goes into search mode and blocks all stations for about 10 or 12 seconds. The dealer claims it does that when the station is weak and it searches for a different/stronger station.
