Fuel door lock - not working S60

I couldn't get it to open at the gas station. Finally it opened after pushing the fuel door release button a number of times, but now the fuel door won't lock. The actuator won't move. Dead.

I checked the fuse and it's fine. Think the fuse serves both the fuel door actuator and the rear door locks. The rear doors work fine. I see there are a number of relays in the trunk, and am wondering if the fuel door actuator has a separate relay or is it also shared with the rear door locks ?

The actuator replacement is very easy, but I don't want to replace it if there is another cause like a bad relay ?

Anyone have experience with trouble shooting this type of thing ?

    I have the same problem with my 2004 V40. I've got a recall appointment with the stealership next week and am going to ask about it then. Of all the times the fuel door latch doesn't lock ... it's got to be when gas is $4.50/gal!

    Most of the time with V/S70's it is the switch that fails. You need a helper, someone to pull the switch while you check the voltage at the actuator.
